Happy New Year! I hope your year has been off to a great start!

One of my goals this year is to reduce spending on snacks. It’s so convenient to buy a bunch of snacks and leave it in the snack cabinet, but I’ve lost track of so many snacks as I accumulate more of them and push the old ones to the back. I keep finding snacks that expired years ago that I totally forgot about since I was too busy acquiring new snacks!

Instead of buying tortilla chips, I’m going to start cutting up an actual tortilla into a chip size and bake them for a snack. It is quick and easy, comes together in 10 minutes, and I get to portion control how much I’m eating! And better yet, you can make this in a toaster oven too!

Baked Tortilla Chip Recipe

Ingredients
1 flour tortilla (or as many as you want)
1 tablespoon oil – optional
A dash of salt
Your favorite seasonings – optional

Steps:

  1. Preheat oven to 375° F.
  2. Cut tortilla with scissor or knife to desired shape.
  3. If desired, brush tortilla slices with oil. Sprinkle with salt and your favorite seasonings.
  4. Lay flat on a nonstick baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  5. Cool and serve.
